How many islands in the Bahamas are inhabited and what is the population?
Answered By Bailey Tiernay, Editor
There are 37 inhabited islands in the Bahamas
and the population of it as of 2005 was
approximately about 301,790. The big portions
of the Bahamian people are the descendants of
the freed slaves. And more than 80% of them
belong to the African origin, mostly from the
tribe of Yoruba. The rest belongs to the
European descendants. However, the true
inhabitants of the Bahamas are the Lucayans.
